Hark! A new Virb is nigh.

As some of you may know (and many of you may not), we have invested the better part of the past year into building a brand new Virb. What began as a plan to remodel the place, ended up as a gut renovation. Great efforts have been taken to improve your experience as you explore the Virb community, build your profile and contribute your content. It’s been a long road, but we're pretty excited to finally hand it over to you.

We can rebuild him. Better, stronger, faster.

Before the new Virb can be launched, there are some steps that must be taken to make substantial upgrades in the hosting department. In addition, there have been terabytes upon terabytes of media already contributed to Virb. We need to move this data to its new home; where it will reside on a sexy, enterprise grade storage system. Therefore, to eliminate any unforeseen outages and/or exclamations of "whoops!" during the migration, we must schedule a window of downtime.

We have tentatively scheduled this maintenance to take place sometime in the next. While we are well prepared, there is still much to do. The upgrades and data migration could take up to 48 hours to complete. So before the weekend is over, and we have a precise timetable, I will be sure to post an update - right here.

A drumroll please.

Upon completion of all this technical jazz, Virb.com will resume normal business hours and the Virb Six (that’s us) will go to work on the final steps leading up to the debut of the NEW Virb!
